What is NDIS?

NDIS explained

NDIS stands for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, which is under the direction of the NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency).

The NDIS was established to give people with disabilities and special needs more choice and control over the support they receive. This is provided in the form of support services or funding that help an individual with special needs improve the quality of their daily life, as well as achieve future goals and ambitions.

What is the purpose of the NDIS?

The NDIS will fund reasonable and necessary services or supports that help an individual with a disability or special need to:

Companies like Care Plan Management can provide you with further advice on the services and supports that are covered.

What is the benefit? of the NDIS?

Before the NDIS, our disability support network was state or territory independent, and the availability of support or funding could vary. The NDIS is a national scheme that is breaking new ground on how assistance is funded and delivered.

For example, with the NDIS, it no longer matters if a person is born with a disability or acquires one later in life. We no longer run the risk of individuals falling through the cracks, so more people with special needs can receive the unique support they require.

Self Managed

This option puts the responsibility of managing the plan on the individual or their nominee. This means the participant or nominee needs to have the ability to budget, pay invoices and perform the necessary administration to comply with the guidelines.

Agency Managed

Agency managed means the participant or nominee chooses to have the NDIA manage their plan on their behalf. The NDIA will make all arrangements and payments, and you will only have access to registered service providers.

Plan Managed

In this scenario, the participant or their nominee chooses a plan with a registered provider like Care Plan Management. Registered providers can arrange services by registered and non registered service providers, as well as manage any other aspect of the plan that the individual or carer may require.

Combination of Plans

In this scenario, the participant or their nominee chooses a plan with a registered provider like Care Plan Management. Registered providers can arrange services by registered and non registered service providers, as well as manage any other aspect of the plan that the individual or carer may require.

What is covered?

The NDIS has been developed to give an extensive range of services and supports to special needs people. The types of support that the NDIS may fund are:

The NDIS offers a broad spectrum of support and funding, and all plans are assessed independently, based on the needs of each individual.

What is not covered??

The NDIS act and the rules that govern it will not fund a support that:

If an individual is unsure if they are eligible for an NDIS support plan, registered services like the Care Plan Management, can help them find the information that relates to their unique situation.
